Artificers are inventors and magical craftsmen who infuse ordinary objects with magical energy. Their spells reflect their innovative approach to magic, often emphasizing utility, enhancement, and the manipulation of elements and materials.
As an artificer, you prepare the list of artificer spells that are available for you to cast. You prepare a number of spells equal to your Intelligence modifier + half your artificer level (minimum of one spell). The spells must be of a level for which you have spell slots.
Unlike other spellcasters, you use tools instead of a spellcasting focus to channel your magic. You must have thieves' tools or artisan's tools in hand when you cast any spell with this Spellcasting feature.
At 3rd level, artificers choose a specialist subclass that shapes their approach to magical technology. Options include Alchemist (potions and elixirs), Armorer (powered armor), Artillerist (magical weapons), and Battle Smith (combat enhancements and mechanical companions).
Artificers excel at utility and enhancement magic. Signature artificer spells include Cure Wounds, Identify, and Heat Metal.
Intelligence is your spellcasting ability for artificer spells.
Using artisan's tools, you can create tiny, magical trinkets with minor magical effects.
Starting at 2nd level, you can imbue mundane items with magical infusions to create temporary magic items.
